A Comparative Study of the Effect of Computer Program-based Training and Traditional Teaching on Mathematics Academic Achievement in Third Grade Elementary Students.

Abstract

The purpose of present study was to compare the effect of the computer program-based training and traditional teaching on mathematics academic achievement in Third-grade elementary students . This research was a quasi-experimental study along with post-test.  228 students (122 girls and 106 males) through a purposive sampling method were selected for  implementation of a new curriculum. Subjects were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups., Deduction topic was taught through using a new educational software simultaneously in a 45-minute session for all four groups.  Then, all 4 classes  were given a test  which was designed by expert teachers. post- test results showed that computer program-based training has significant positive effect on mathematic academic achievement. The Boy Students in experiment groups had maximum scores in post-test and had significant difference with all boy and girl Students in other groups. Also, gender and group interaction had significant effect on mathematic academic achievement of student.
