Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of performance tests on academic engagement, perceived self-efficacy and achievement motivation of a group of sixth grade elementary students. The research method was quasi-experimental and the research design was pre-test-post-test with a control group. The statistical population of the study included all male and female students in the sixth grade of elementary school in Marvdasht who were studying in the academic year 1398-99, of which 15 were selected for the experimental group and 15 for the control group by multi-stage cluster sampling. Pre-test and post-test research tools for academic motivation and achievement motivation and self-efficacy questionnaire (Morris, 2001) were perceived to measure self-efficacy that Necessary steps were performed to assess the validity and reliability of tests and questionnaires. The data obtained from this study were analyzed by analysis of covariance. The main findings of analysis of covariance(ANCOA) showed that the mean of tests of achievement motivation, academic engagement and perceived self-efficacy in terms of group membership(experimental and control group) in the post-test stage is significantly different(P<0.01).The results showed that the implementation of performance tests has a positive effect on academic engagement, perceived self-efficacy and achievement motivation of sixth grade students.
