Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of art education on mental vitality and stress reduction in students. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all elementary school girls in Kohrang city in the academic year 1400-1401.The sample group consisted of 30 people ؛15 people in the experimental group and 15 people in the control group who were selected using convenience sampling. Thus, the experimental group participated in art training sessions during 12 sessions; while the control group received their normal training routine at the same time. The research tools included Cohen et al.'s (1983) Perceived Stress Questionnaire and Desi and Ryan's (1977) Mental Vitality Questionnaire. The results were analyzed at two descriptive and inferential levels using spss software. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to check the normality of the data. Also, Levene's test, multivariate analysis of covariance were used. The results showed that the education of the art had led to an increase in mental vitality and a decrease in perceived stress in the elementary school students of Kohrang city. Accordingly, it can be said that art lessons have many capabilities in increasing mental vitality and reducing stress in students.
