Study the implemented curriculum for the social study courses in grade 6 of Meshkan primary schools in the academic year 2016-2017

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to review the curriculum implemented in the social study courses in grade 6  Meshkan primary schools in the academic year 2016-2017.
 This is an applied research in terms of the purpose and in terms of methodology, it is a descriptive survey used to identify and evaluate the implemented curriculum in the social study courses in Meshkan elementary schools through teachers 'and students' surveys. Both the population and statistical sample of the study were all the sixth grade students of Meshkan city in primary schools (72 students). . To collect data, two researcher-made questionnaires that were approved by Cronbach's alpha method. In order to analyze the data related to each question, a quantitative method has been used . To describe the quantitative data, descriptive statistics methods (frequency distribution tables, percentage and mean) and inferential statistics (t single-sample) were used. The findings of the research indicate that in the implemented curriculum, teachers’ preparation and justification are not in desired limit  ; however, the predicted goals in the social study classes are pursued in the curriculum. Also, in the  rriculum of social studies, the content is appropriate and has been implemented to the optimum level. The findings also show that teachers have made best use of proper methods of teaching-learning and lesson plans. Methods used to assess the students knowledge are performed based on pre-determined ways  by the teachers. Also, the students had the expected and desirable performance in responding to a variety of test questions of knowledge, skills and attitudes.
