Abstract

The current study on the formation of the choice of teaching profession and entering Farhangian University was conducted with a view to the interactions, motivations, and previous experiences of student teachers on 35 student teachers, including 17 males and 18 females, on the campuses of Farhangian University of Khorasan Razavi. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach in which semi-structured interviews were used to collect information, and the interviews continued until theoretical saturation. The population of this research included all student teachers on campuses in Khorasan Razavi. In this research, purposive sampling of the criterion type was used, and sampling continued until theoretical saturation. The coding procedure started with open codes and continued until reaching the main themes and final concept. To analyze the data in this study, the seven-step method of Dickelman et al. was used, which provided 5 main themes and 13 sub-themes. 5 main themes include the benefits of Farhangian University and the teaching profession (including 3 sub-themes: job security and benefits of student life, comfort of the teaching profession and its cheerful atmosphere, social status and prestige of the teaching profession), teaching and learning experiences (including 2 sub-themes: teaching experience and transferring knowledge to an individual, experience of influencing others through education), the influence of others and family circumstances (including 4 sub-themes: family advice and encouragement, family economic conditions and financial independence, the presence of teachers and cultural people in the family, the influence of teachers and counselors and school staff), Internal conditions and personality traits (including two sub-themes: interaction and potential for communication with others, interest in working with learners and helping them) and macro-social development and altruism (including two sub-themes: influencing the future generation and building the future, creating change in society, and raisin Finally, the results of this study show that students' extrinsic motivations have prevailed over their intrinsic and altruistic motivations in choosing a teaching profession and entering Farhangian University and the formation of this concept, because out of the 5 main themes of the research findings, 2 themes are covered by extrinsic motivations, while each of the intrinsic and altruistic motivations has allocated 1 theme and one theme was influenced by the participants' past experiences. The relationship between motivations and the interaction between them, as well as previous experiences as a whole, are involved in the formation of the choice of a teaching profession. It seems that Farhangian University should organize measures to strengthen intrinsic and altruistic motivations in order to reduce the dominance of extrinsic motivations in this complex وthe desired generation).
