Criteria for Educational Space Design with Emphasis on the Environmental Facilities Influencing the Mind and Behavior of Students

Abstract

The study aimed to achieve measures for designing open and semi-open spaces in junior schools with an emphasis on environmental features influencing the mind and behavior of adolescents to promote socialization of these spaces. Case study was used in this study based on the integration of comments related to the subject of the research and based on the results of this study, architectural standards are extracted for the design of open and semi-open spaces in schools to promote the socialization of these spaces. The population in this study included all male students of junior school in the academic year 2011-12 in Shahre Rey, Tehran. Multi-stage cluster sampling method was used in this study and the population in this research were 102 students and 49 teachers. To collect data, a researcher-made questionnaire was used. The data were analyzed by using SPSS after classifying and based on the types of variables and their relations with each other and the following results were obtained after the descriptive analysis of the users’ comments.
