Content analysis of elementary science books in terms of three categories of nutritional literacy

Abstract

One of the pillars of the community health is the provision of physical and mental needs through diserable nutrition. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the importance of science textbooks in elementary school as well as the views of the first to sixth grade teachers of district 2 of Kermanshah toward the categories of nutrition literacy categories in these books. The population which are studied in this research is:
1-All primary school science books (from the first to sixth grades) in the academic year 1395-1396.
2-255 teachers from first to sixth grade teachers in district 2 of Kermanshah who were selected as sample size.
The statistical method of this research was descriptive analysis of the data. For this purpose, the content analysis method of Kripendorov (2004) was used and for analyzing the results, descriptive statistics methode were used. Nutrition literacy categories were evaluated for three purposes: knowledge, skill and attitude. The book analysis tool was a content analysis construct based on theoretical foundations and its validity was verified by experts and its reliability was calculated based on the Holstebian reliability coefficient formula.
