Examining teachers' lived experiences of the opportunities and challenges of lesson Study

Abstract

The current research was conducted with the aim of representing the lived experiences of elementary teachers of the opportunities and challenges of implementing the lesson research plan in Durood city. According to the nature of the research, in terms of the purpose of the development research and in terms of data collection, it is included in the qualitative research of the phenomenological type. The participants were primary school teachers of Durood city who were working in the academic year 1401-1402, and in order to obtain the views of these people, a criterion-based purposeful sampling method was used. The experience of participating in the project and at least gaining honor and status at the city level was considered as a criterion for sample selection. The sample size was determined to be 16 people based on theoretical saturation in the information collected from the interviews. The results showed that fostering creativity, strengthening the spirit of research, internal incentives and motivators, developing professional ethics, promoting school organizational health, professional development, student progress, and the formation and strengthening of work group spirit as opportunities and ineffectiveness of incentive and support platforms, lack of facilities and resources. Finance, lack of implementation platforms, lack of internal motivation, unprofessional ethics, research alienation, lack of work group culture and skills, incorrect and artificial implementation of the plan, and inefficiency of educational platforms were identified as the challenges of implementing the lesson research plan.
