Effect of teaching in a laboratory method on the learning of biological concepts and comparison between male and female students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of laboratory activities on learning of biology concepts and compare between boy and girl students in grade 7 in city of Damghan in 2017. The samples consisted of 4 groups of 28 randomly selected. The research method was quasi-experimental and research tools. The researcher-made test was 10 questions related to the pigeon digestive system. The research design was pre-test and post-test. For teaching the experimental group, teaching was done using the experimental method and the lecture method was used to teach the comparison group. Data analysis was performed using covariance analysis. The results indicated that: 1- Girls and boys were influenced by teaching methods in comparison with lecture-based teaching. 2- In the gastrointestinal tract of pigeons, boys scored higher than girls. 3- There was no significant difference between the girls and boys in the pigeon gastrointestinal tract, and there was no interactive effect.
